An orthodontist prevents and treats alignment problems in the mouth, teeth, and jaw. Using braces, retainers, and other devices, an orthodontist helps straighten a person’s teeth and correct the way the jaws line up.
Palo Alto Dentist Dr. Hansen has Orthodontists that treat children for many problems, including crowded or overlapping teeth or problems with jaw growth and tooth development which can be genetic. These tooth and jaw problems may also be caused by tooth decay, losing baby teeth too soon, accidents, or habits like thumb sucking.
Orthodontic problems require specialized care. Patients who have dental and facial irregularities should see an orthodontist.
The results of orthodontic treatment can be dramatic – beautiful smiles, improved dental health and an enhanced quality of life for many people of all ages. Orthodontic problems, which can result from genetic and environmental factors, must be diagnosed before treatment begins. Proper diagnosis involves taking photographs, x-rays, and dental impressions, which enable our practice to make informative decisions about the form of treatment necessary. Treatment typically lasts from 6 to 30 months, depending on age and the severity of the orthodontic problem.
Palo Alto Orthodontist Dr. Christine Hansen provide braces, retainers and offer Invisalign, invisible teeth alignment system.
Invisalign® is a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that your Palo Alto Dentists use as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces.
Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements that your Palo Alto Dentist Dr. Hansen plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.
