Teeth Whitening Palo Alto

Looking for Teeth Whitening in Palo Alto? Looking for a bright youthful smile?

Teeth Whitening Palo Alto

Palo Alto Dentist Dr Hansen offers a full range of cosmetic dentistry including professional teeth whitening. Teeth whitening is the #1 requested and performed cosmetic dental procedure. Teeth whitening (sometimes called teeth bleaching) is a procedure that brightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. People with good dental health may also use a kit to whiten teeth at home. However, in a single office visit, teeth whiting preformed by a dental professional will produce brighter results that are more consistent in color across all teeth. Teeth whitening is a cost-effective way to enjoy the benefits of cosmetic dentistry. From our location in Palo Alto, we are your fast and knowledgeable source to provide you with bright, sparkling smiles. If you suffer from one of the following symptoms, you may be a candidate for tooth whitening:

  • Uneven color and dark marks
  • Sign of aging
  • Staining from smoking
  • Side-effects of older medication
  • Yellowing of the teeth
  • Stains from red wine, soft drinks, tea or coffee

Today, many products claim to “whiten” your teeth. However, clinical studies show that non-professional procedures and “new” teeth bleaching products do NOT provide satisfactory results.

Tooth bleaching, or tooth whitening, is a very common procedure in general dentistry and especially in the field of cosmetic dentistry. Many consider white teeth on a smile to be an attractive feature. Normally, children’s deciduous teeth are generally whiter in color than the adult teeth. As a person ages, the adult teeth often become darker because of the changes in the mineral structure of the teeth. Teeth are often stained by bacterial pigments, food and tobacco.

Teeth Whitening Methods

Palo Alto Dentist Dr. Hansen focus on the Sinsational Smile® whitening method. Sinsational Smile® uses a fast and effective technology with our patented pre-filled silicone tray. This allows the jaw to remain relaxed and the person comfortable throughout the 20 minute procedure. This procedure includes the use of an LED accelerating light that helps to activate the gel’s whitening ingredients at a faster rate, resulting in a brighter smile and whiter teeth in less time. As part of your procedure, you’ll also receive a take-home maintenance pen shown below to further extend your new brighter smile!

LASER TEETH WHITENING PALO ALTO

LASER TEETH WHITENING PALO ALTO

Do over the counter tooth whitening gels work? That’s the number one question we receive about Sinsational Smile Whitening vs. over the counter products. The honest answer is they do, but not very well.

There are two reasons they don’t work well; they’re not prescription strength and they don’t give you a medical laser to activate the whitening gel. Without these features products like Crest Whitening Strips produce marginal results.

Is laser tooth whitening safe?
Yes. Laser Teeth Whitening uses a proven safe peroxide based gel solution to remove unwanted stains from your teeth. The laser simply activates it by helping the enamel absorb the peroxide. Sinsational Smile Whitening provides fast painless whitening in about 20 minutes.

What are the side effects of laser tooth whitening?
Most of the time there are no side effects of bleaching your teeth. However, some patients have temporary sensitivity or tingling sensation in their teeth for a day or so.

Does laser tooth whitening hurt?
No. Whitening your teeth using a laser is a painless procedure. In our office you can sit back, relax and watch TV while we whiten your smile.

How long does teeth whitening last?
This is a tough question to answer as everyone eats and drinks different foods. The more you drink coffee, red wine, etc. the sooner your teeth will discolor. Most people see the effects of laser whitening start to fade after a year. The good news is we will also give you take-home whitening trays and gel so you can “touch up” your white smile at home.
